World Scout Jamboree 2007

A completely customised Content Management System created for the World Scout Jamboree in 2007. This was a high traffic website requiring a performance focused solution.
The main CMS backbone was coded over a period of four weeks. It included a core content module, with a revisions system, multilingual content in English and French with a translations interface and a News module.
The site received over 10 million hits during the 10 day long event, requiring agressive caching solutions and performance optimisations. The custom built code was highly successful as a backend and could be used with minimal training.
Over the year as a whole the website received in the region of 20 million hits, before being turned off on 31st December 2007. It was used by a large team of around 50 people working in the media centre.
